Columbia River Tribes raise concerns about coal export, document links

Proposals to ship coal on trains and barges down the Columbia River may impact Native American treaty rights. Read concerns about coal export in the following comments to the Army Corps of Engineers from the Yakama Nation, the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee, and the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC). The Yakama Nation and CRITFC also submitted comments to the State of Oregon’s Department of State Lands on a state permit application to build a coal export dock.
